Vintage original signed 1970s Ernest Posey (1937-2007) abstract art. Original oil on canvas abstract painting created in 1971 by celebrated artist Ernest Posey this piece depicts geometric patterns reminiscent of the Art Deco style in vibrant colors which swing from distinct separation to soft subtle merging. This piece was acquired directly from the artist by the owner who was a close friend.

A well-known California artist, this native son of New Orleans was successful in his own lifetime and celebrated wherever he lived whether in New York as in his younger days or San francisco where he taught at the California College of Art and the San Francisco Academy of Art.

Posey had over two dozen solo exhibitions of his paintings and mixed media, with work collected by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the San Jose Museum of Art, the Oakland Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art & the Achenbach Collection. In the 70's he moved to Mendocino county continuing to show his work in San Francisco.

CONDITION

In nice condition with great color vibrancy. in the bottom right there are what appear to be 2 small blotches of liquid and a couple of small white scuff marks in the blue area (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
